What is Advent?
We're Glad you asked.
Advent is like the countdown to Christmas, but instead of chocolate calendars, it’s a time to prepare our hearts for the coming of Jesus. The word Advent means “coming” or “arrival,” and during these four weeks leading up to Christmas, we focus on the gifts Jesus brings to the world: hope, peace, joy, and love.

The Advent Wreath is a circular wreath made of evergreen branches (symbolizing eternal life) with four candles around it and one in the center. Each Sunday, we light a new candle to symbolize a growing light in the darkness—just like Jesus brings light into the world. Here’s what each candle means:
-
Week 1: Hope
-
Week 2: Peace
-
Week 3: Joy
-
Week 4: Love
On Christmas Eve, we light the big candle in the center—the Christ Candle—to celebrate that Jesus is finally here! When we light the Christ Candle, the season of Advent ends, and the season of Christmas begins.

Why Is It Special?
Advent isn’t just about waiting for Christmas Day; it’s about preparing our hearts and lives for Jesus. It’s like getting your home ready for a special guest—but instead of cleaning, we focus on things like kindness, prayer, and gratitude.

Advent is for everyone, no matter your background. It’s a time to reflect, find hope, and look forward to the joy of Christmas. And the best part? There’s no wrong way to celebrate—just bring your excitement and a heart ready to welcome the light of Christ!
